Call for Papers
2024 ISBRA Conference – July 19-21, 2024 (Kunming, China)

The 20th International Symposium on Bioinformatics Research and Applications (ISBRA) provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and results among researchers, developers, and practitioners working on all aspects of bioinformatics and computational biology and their applications. Submissions presenting original research are solicited in all areas of bioinformatics and computational biology, including the development of experimental or commercial systems.

Impact
As a premier ACM conference for interdisciplinary research linking computer science, mathematics, statistics, biology, medicine, artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, biomedical informatics, and health informatics, over the past 13 years, ACM-BCB annual conference has risen to be among the top 20 most influential Bioinformatics and Computational Biology referred journals and conferences by Google Scholar. As of today, ISBRA has h5-index=28 and h5-median=50.

Transition to OpenReview & Double-Blind Review Process
To further improve the quality and the impact of ACM-BCB, starting from 2023, the organizing committee (OC) will adopt a fully open double-blind review process via OpenReview.net. It will not only enhance the transparency of the review process, but it will also improve the paper quality by enabling interactions among the authors, reviewers, and the research community.

Expansion of Partner Journals
We are also happy to announce exciting new partnerships with several learding journals in the field, which will publish selected original full-length research papers accepted by ISBRA 2024. Currently, our partner journals include:

Further information about the partner journals - including the editorial process and APC (article processing charges) for each journal - can be found at the following link: [ISBRA 2024 Partner Journals]

Author Guidelines

The 2024 ISBRA Conference welcomes original submissions that have not been published and are not presently under review. You can submit a Full Paper (8-10 pages) or a Short Paper (4-5 pages), where the page limit includes references (use double column ACM SIG conference format). While the authors are allowed to include appendices (or supplementary information) beyond the page limit, please note that it is up to the reviewer whether the additional material will be considered in the overall evaluation. In any case, the manuscript and the appendix / supplementary material (if any) should be submitted as a single PDF document.

Accepted papers will be published in the 2024 ISBRA Conference Proceedings and appear in the ACM Digital Library (note that ACM copyright permissions are directly compatible with those of the NIH and are similar to open-access journal policies). Selected full-length original research papers will be invited for publication in special issues of our partner journals.

In addition, there is a separate Highlights track for authors who wish to present platform talks for papers that have recently appeared in refereed journals; see the Call for Highlights for more information.

Submitted manuscripts should comply with the requirements delineated on the ACM Master Article Template website. ACM-BCB's technical program committee will review and assess all submissions on the basis of their originality, technical soundness, significance, presentation, and relevance to conference attendees. In order to submit their manuscripts, authors should use the OpenReview. All submissions will be peer-reviewed in a double-blind review process by program committee members. Please ensure that the author list is not shown in the submitted manuscript. However, the author list should be final at the time of submission, and any subsequent changes to the author list post-submission must be approved by the program chairs.
